Take me Back | Onward and Upward
Interesting to see the British press's response to yesterday's events:
The Mirror
(My sentiments entirely!)
The Independent
The Mail
(They're lovin' it!)
And, of course, putting it all into perspective:
The Sun
Daily Star
(Election? What Election?)

I like the Independent though. They're not afraid to say right out that the wheels seem to have come off America.
I was also highly amused by Breakfast on the Beeb this morning. The usually lightweight Kerplunk suddenly came over all disaffected and sarcastic, and it was a joy to see. "Oh, God, you stupid people," was oozing from every pore, especially those who tried to put a positive spin on the Repugnant victory.
I wouldn't know. I've never fucked Cilla Black.
Anyway, for those who don't: Some time ago, the Guardian gave over its insert to different groups, allowing them to be the editor for the day. One of the groups decided, for whatever reason, and they were not fly by night groups (I think this is what happened, anyway, I may be confusing, and combing two of the Guardian insert editing experiments) that a cover consisting of very little other than the words "Fuck Cilla Black," writ small, was appropriate. The main article inside was about how Cilla Black had been, er, 'fucked over' by the hip young things in meeja, looking for the latest 'buzz' in television (I do apologize if the words I choose do not have enough resonance with you Young Things). This led to her unexpected, and, if one has read the history, quite revolutionary and anarchist live declaration of her resignation (in the first live Blind Date), something that had not been expected by ITV, and was, actually, quite a phenomonal TV event. Because ITV had no idea that she was going to do it, and couldn't cut the cameras while it was happening. The "Fuck Cilla Black" Guardian cover came after that event, and, oh, I don't know. Something that Derrida has probably covered, anyway.
