RFL
Hello. There's only 10 weeks to go til I hoik on my running gear and jog around Lister Park getting all teary-eyed at the dedications on people's backs/the pain in my legs as I remember that I should've done some training before embarking on...blimey, my fifth Race For Life.

And I'm hardly anywhere near my hoped-for total in sponsorship. Boo. Boo I say!

Here's where you - yes you, dear reader - can make a difference. If you can just sponsor me for a teeny-weeny amount, it will all add up to a big amount that will potentially make an even bigger difference to cancer sufferers everywhere. And all you have to do is press a few buttons on a keyboard while I do all the actual hard work for you!

G'wan. Sponsor me. Please. DON'T MAKE ME BEG, NOW!

(Thank you)

Doing It For Dad

RFL
After much gentle persuasion by Sam last night, I've decided once again that I'm going to be Racing For Life this year. If you can spare any small amount to sponsor me, I'd be really grateful. It's not until June so you've got five months to save up some pennies.

Details are here:

Needless to say, I'll be posting regular reminders on here up until then.

Advent Calendar - Advance Warning

Santa Tig
Hello lovely Advent Calendar Faithful. This is just a quick message to let you know that I won't be posting Pookee's Advent Calendar on this Livejournal this year. But fear not (said she, for mighty dread, etc)! I have, instead, given it it's very own Livejournal, which can be found here:

http://xmas-pook.livejournal.com/

See you there in two days time? I do hope so!

Music Meme!

Dave Southpark Stylee
Ooh, I love a good music meme, me!

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List 10 songs you love that begin with that letter (along with some way people can listen to them).
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

I was given "N" by [info]azureskies . It was hard to only pick 10, but here they are, in no particular order.

Race For Life

Running
Tomorrow morning I will be Sauntering Racing for Life in Lister Park, in memory of my much missed dad. It's not too late to sponsor me if you would like to. As one of the sponsors like to say 'every little helps'.

http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/sue1ward

Am currently putting together my 'Running' playlist on the iPod. A mix of songs with a good 'jogging' beat and/or uplifting melodies and lyrics, to inspire me and keep me going - especially if it's pissing down as predicted. I'm enjoying this - my only problem is limiting the number of songs so that I won't have finished before I get to hear them all!

Race For Life

Running
This time next week I'll be walking/jogging/knackeredly crawling* around Lister Park, in memory of my dad and to raise money for Cancer Research. Please will you sponsor me? I'd be ever so grateful. As will anybody who is, or will be, affected by cancer. Thank you.

*There will be no running. I've done absolutely no training this year. Oops!

Missing

Don't Give A Shit
Dear Mr Cameron,

How very generous of you to offer the services of the already over-stretched and under-pressure Metropolitan Police Force to investigate the disappearances of all missing UK children in the last four years. I mean, I take it you *will* be doing that, and the McCanns aren't considered some sort of special case, here? Especially as the alleged kidnapping of their daughter was due in no small part to their decision to leave her and her siblings alone and unsupervised while they went out for a meal with their friends.

I can't imagine how the mother of Ben Needham must be feeling this morning, knowing that somehow the case of Madeleine McCann is deemed more important than that of her son. Not to mention all the hundreds of thousands of other parents of missing children in this country.

No love,

Me.

There will be no Eurovision LJ from me this year. Sorry. I can't bring myself to watch anything that has that utter waste of oxygen 'Jedward' in it.

On Doctor Who

Serious Tig
I've not written anything about Doctor Who yet this series have I? It's mostly because three episodes in, I'm still left with an overwhelming feeling of 'I enjoyed that, but it should have been so much better'. This week, in particular, had shoddy editing and a plot that fell apart so badly at the end it actually fared worse than the LibDems in yesterday's elections*. Seriously, Steven. Sort your editors out. Did you really think nobody would notice Lee Ross just vanishing into thin air with no explanation halfway through the episode? And then reappearing at the end?

Yet despite feeling ultimately disappointed each week, I love Steven Moffatt and Matt Smith so much I still look forward to the next episode with eager anticipation. I haven't had that excited/anticipatory feeling about Dr Who for a long time. (And I never ever watch the 'Next Time' trailers and have so far managed to avoid spoilers, which helps).

It's because I love Moffatt's writing and I love Smith's Doctor - he's like the Doctor should be, all quirky and funny and a bit dotty and not at all the pontificating pompous prat (and - God forbid - sex symbol) that RTD turned him into. He's the Doctor I loved as a kid, and I'll always be grateful to Moffatt and Smith for that, even if I end up feeling like this series is ultimately a bit too clever for its own good and 'should have been so much better'.

Oh, but please stop with the Rory stuff now. Somebody on Twitter compared him to Shaggy from Scooby Doo the other week, but it's obvious he's actually turned into another well-known animated character. It would appear I'm going to spend every other week shouting at the screen 'oh my God! They killed Kenny Rory! You bastards!'

Ruby Pics

Photo Pook
It's been a while since I posted any photos of Ruby hasn't it? We took her to the seaside last weekend, on a Mother's Day visit to my mum. These are my favourite two photos from the gazillions I took on the beach.
